A Pandemic Journey
In April of 2020 I joined the Covid-19 Journal Project through the Wisconsin Historical Society. I had already started a series of 6" x 4" mixed media pieces, on masonite, as a way of processing the fear I was feeling about the pandemic. I initially submitted the project to the Historical Society on June 17, 2020 but I continue to create the pieces. There are 53 pieces to date.
I allow myself one hour to work on each piece. I include the date, worldwide, national, Wisconsin, and Brown County statistics regarding identified Covid cases and deaths at the time. I also include a little information about what's going on in the world, or in my world, on the back for each day that I create a piece.
The entire project will be displayed at the NewARTSpace Gallery in De Pere during the Spring of 2022.
